Toccoa Recognizes February as Black History Month

At the start of last week’s regular meeting of the Toccoa City Commission, commissioners adopted a proclamation recognizing February as Black History Month. Mayor Gail Fry read the proclamation into the record, and the commission presented the framed document to members of the Gholston family, Inger Neal, Shantelle Grant and Marie Cochran.

Grant, who is the children’s librarian at the Toccoa/Stephens County Public Library, talked of Black History Month programs at local schools in February.
