Toccoa Post Office Hiring Part-time Rural Carriers

The Toccoa Post Office is hiring.

Russell Chatham is a supervior of customer service at the Post Office.

Chatham said they are looking for part-time, fill-in rural carriers.

“We’re looking for rural carriers. A vehicle is required. I’m not sure of the salary. I think it’s $13-$17 an hour plus mileage, and you get benefits after so long with the post office,” Chatham explained. “It will only be guaranteed one day a week, but there always extra hours to be had. It’s posted Nov 23-27 on www.USPS.com.”

Chatham said this is a permanent, part-time job, not just for the holidays, and he said new hires will be trained.

“It’s not full-time, but it is a substitute job for the entire year,” he said. “We’re not hiring holiday subs. We’re running short-handed right now so we’re looking for subs for all of our routes, basically.”

Chatham said they hope to hire at least three new substitute rural carriers, and training will be provided.

“You will be trained once you’re hired. You will go down to North Metro near Duluth for a week for training and orientation. You will be paid mileage for that as well,” he said.
