Toccoa Police Impound Vehicle Stolen From Clayton County

Toccoa Police say a woman pulled over for driving a stolen vehicle is not a suspect.

Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize tells WNEG News it happened Tuesday, April 23 on Big A Road.

Mize said one of his officers was patrolling Big A road with a License Plate Reader when he received a hit on a white 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage reportedly stolen from Clayton County.

After pulling the driver over, the woman told the officer she bought the car from an individual in Atlanta and was making payments on it.

However, Mize said she had no bill of sale or any other paperwork for the vehicle.  Chief Mize said the officer had the vehicle towed to the Toccoa Police Department’s impound lot.

After being brought back to the Police station for questioning, it was determined the driver of the vehicle did not know it was stolen.

Mize said they turned the case over to Clayton County Police.
