Toccoa Police, GBI Investigate Death of 11-Year Old Boy

Toccoa Police along with agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are investigating the death of an 11-year old boy.

It happened sometime Saturday night or Sunday morning, according to Toccoa Police Chief Tim Jarrell.

“At approximately 9:30a Sunday, the Toccoa Police, the Toccoa Fire Department and the Stephens County Ambulance Unit were called to a residence at the corner of West Doyle and North Tallulah Sts. regarding a report of an unresponsive child,” Jarrell said. “When we arrived, it was determined that the child was deceased. At that point, we called in the GBI and the GBI Crime Scene Unit to help us with the investigation.”

The name of the child is being withheld because he is a juvenile.

No word yet on the official cause of death.

Jarrell said the boy’s body was sent to the GBI Crime Lab for autopsy.
