Toccoa Man Facing Murder Charges in Myrtle Beach, SC

A Toccoa man is behind bars in Myrtle Beach, SC charged with murder.

According to a report in the Myrtle Beach Sun News, 24-year old Jakkari Jaquille De’Andre Brown of Toccoa has pending warrants for murder, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a violent crime, unlawful use of a weapon and carrying a pistol or firearm into a premise of a business selling alcohol, beer or wine.

Myrtle Beach Police say it happened about 1 a.m Sunday at the Riptydz Oceanfront Grille, on Ocean Blvd.

The police investigation determined a fight started in the bar and a man fired the gun, hitting the victim in the head.

The victim was Roger Ramos, 25, of Myrtle Beach, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office.

Witnesses helped identify the suspect, who was quickly taken into custody, according to police.

A friend of Ramos told police they were at the bar to watch a UFC pay-per-view when a fight broke out in the grille and ended quickly.  A second fight then started.

The friend of the victim said he saw a man pull out a gun. He said as he was trying to protect a woman from being shot, he saw Ramos on the ground with other customers trying to render Ramos aid.

Myrtle Beach Mayor Brenda Bethune also posted on social media in response to the shooting, which she called “senseless.”

In the post, Bethune said she wanted to remind people that Myrtle Beach is safe and there is a hurting family.

The restaurant stated it will be closed through Wednesday and is providing grief counselors for its staff.
