Toccoa man arrested on theft charges in Franklin County

Yesterday, Nov. 2, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Troopers from Post 52 Hartwell were advised of a stolen vehicle that had been seen in the area of Gumlog Road in Franklin County. 

The vehicle was a gray Nissan Frontier and had been reported stolen out of Franklin County. Three Troopers responded to the report and attempted to locate the vehicle. The Nissan ws located traveling on Gumlog Road and was stopped and the driver was taken into custody. The driver, later identified as Marty Trent Jones, 35, or Toccoa, was also found to have several debit cards in his possession that did not belong to him. 

The Jones was charged with Safety Restraint Violation, Driving While License Suspended or Revoked, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, and Credit Card Fraud. The driver also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. 

He is currently being held at the Franklin County Detention Center
