Toccoa man arrested after suspicious activity at Carnes Creek Baptist Church

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office recently arrested a Toccoa man.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, on May 22, at 12:30 a.m., a deputy received a call regarding suspicious activity at Carnes Creek Baptist Church.

The caller advised a male subject was seen under the church van parked near the back of the building using a power tool of some kind.

Deputies responded to the church and upon arrival made contact with a male subject walking away from the church toward Highway 106.

Deputies stopped and spoke with the male subject who was identified as Talibdin Suluki.

Other deputies inspected the church van and found that two catalytic converters had been cut from underneath it.

Deputies were also able to locate a vehicle registered to Suluki parked in the wood-line near the church.

Based on all the evidence at the scene Suluki was placed under arrest and transported to Stephens County Jail.

41-year-old Talibdin Suluki was arrested and charged with felony theft by taking and criminal trespass.

He is currently out on bond from Stephens County Jail.
