Toccoa Main Street’s Costume Parade was a huge success
Little princesses, super heroes and other cuties once again line the streets of downtown Toccoa.
Hundreds of tiny trick or treaters descended on Doyle Street Wednesday for the annual preschooler Halloween parade and costume contest.
Sponsored by Toccoa Main Street, Event Coordinator Sharon Crosby says this year’s event was the best one yet.
Businesses all along Doyle St lined up to fill children’s baskets and bags with candy as they passed by.
Children were also treated to juice and cookies at the end of their candy walk.
And as it does every year, the parade ended with the announcement of the winners for best costumes.
Gail Fry was one of this year’s judges.
She said they had a difficult time picking the best costumes.
“It’s extremely difficult. Any job that you have that involves children and competition is always hard, but it’s fun. It’s a fun job,” Fry said.
Winners were chosen in three categories.
In the Age 2 and Under category, 3rd Place went to Ivyonna McGee for her Moana costume; 2nd Place went to John Bhommer for his Helicopter costume; and 1st Place was awarded to Wyatt Linkous for his Bull Rider costume.
In the Age 3 category, 3rd Place went to Vivienne Carvin for her Rain Cloud Girl costume; 2nd Place went to Eli Cappa for his King costume; and 1st Place went to Gunner Davenport for his Backhoe costume.
In the Age 4 and Over category, 3rd Place went to Liam Barcus for his Jafar costume; 2nd Place went to Ariana Shedd for her Show Girl costume; and 1st Place was awarded to Jack Simmons for his Transformer costume.
The overall costume winner was Stephens County Hospital for their Doctors costume.
