Toccoa Little League Teams Fall in Weekend Games

It was a tough weekend for teams from Toccoa Little League.

The 11U Toccoa All-Stars were eliminated from the three-team District 7 Tournament falling to Hart County for the 2nd time 15-0 in three innings on Sunday in Lavonia.

Hart County 15 runs on 11 hits. Hayden Scotland led Hart County with 5 RBI’s and Brady Vickery and Will Dickerson added 2 RBI’s each.

Toccoa’s starting pitcher Reese Jordan had Toccoa’s lone hit and pitched well almost escaping the Hart County 8-run 2nd inning with a strikeout, but a passed ball extended the inning and Hart followed with 6 straight hits to break the game open.

Toccoa fell to Hart County 15-0 in three innings on Friday night when Hart County had 13 hits. Scotland, Townes Anderson, Hudson McGarity, Esteban Sanchez, and Dickerson had multiple RBI’s for Hart County. On Saturday, the Rabun County All-Stars topped the Toccoa All Stars 10-5 Saturday afternoon in the first round of the district 7 Little League 12U Baseball Tournament at Doyle Street Park.

Toccoa scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning against starting and winning pitcher Bentley Taylor. Easton Pollack and Cash Butler crossed the plate to give Toccoa the lead. That lead didn’t last long as Rabun County scored three runs in the top of the fourth. They added three more runs in the top of the fifth and four runs in the top of the sixth.

Toccoa out-hit Rabun County 5-2 but walks and errors proved to be the downfall of the locals.

Brant Smith was the starter for Toccoa and went four and a third innings, striking out 7. Taylor pitched into the sixth inning for Rabun County, striking out six. Braden Wood and Kyle Wheeler each had RBI’s for Rabun County.

Due to rain late Sunday afternoon, play has been pushed back one day in the
tournament, so Toccoa All-Stars will play next on Tuesday night in the loser’s
bracket. Game time will be at 8 pm from Doyle Street Park with air time on
WNEG Radio set for 7:45 pm Tuesday night.
