Toccoa Little League holds Champions Banquet

The Toccoa Little League held a “Champions Banquet” Saturday at Sunnyside Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. 

The event honored the championship teams of Toccoa Little League in 2023. \

Teams recognized included:

  • The Georgia State Champion Senior Baseball team, who advanced to runner-up at the Southeast Regional in Florida – This team was also the first Senior League team from Toccoa to win a state title.
  • The Junior Baseball team, which was named District 7 Champions and a runner-up at the State Tournament in Columbus.
  • The Rookie Baseball and Sandlot Baseball teams, both of which were named Little League District 7 Champions.

Special awards were presented to volunteers for service above and beyond what is asked.  

  • Junior League Team Mom Brooke Stonecypher was named Team Mom of the Year
  • Tony Ledford and Roger Shepard were presented a plaque for groundskeeping\
  • Seth Stonecypher was named the Youth Volunteer of the Year; 
  • Chuck Ivester was presented the Dedication & Service Award.

Jeremy Haley, District Administrator for District 7 and President of Georgia Little League, In his address to the gathering, said that Toccoa Little League is a first rate Little League program from top to bottom, built on the efforts of players and volunteers over the last 70 years.
