Toccoa Little League Continues Winning Ways

Toccoa remained undefeated in District 7 play on Sunday.

The Toccoa Little League softball team used great pitching and defense combined with contributions throughout the lineup at the plate, and rolled to a 15-2 win over Franklin County in 4 innings at the Hart County Recreation Fields on Sunday afternoon.

Ally Means was outstanding on the mound with a complete game. Means allowed only two runs on three hits and struck out three.

Toccoa got two RBI’s each from Riley Walker, Aurora Elrod, Brianna Scott, and Siena Malek, and RBI’s from Hallee Shirley, Raven Payne, Kristin Collins, and Means in the win.

Also on Sunday, the Tocccoa 8-9-10 Softball All-Stars won their second game of the tournament to advance to the District 7 Championship. Toccoa had a 5-1 lead early over Hart County, but had to hold on down the stretch when Carson Stowe got the last two outs of the game by strikeouts with the tying run at second. Toccoa’s 5-4 win on Sunday followed their Saturday win over Franklin County. They will now wait to see who emerges from the loser’s bracket and will return to action again on Tuesday night.

On Saturday, The Toccoa 8-9-10 Baseball team completed a sweep of their tournament defeating Habersham County 7-1 to advance to the state tournament in Dudley. The 9-10-11 Toccoa Baseball All-Stars went undefeated in their tournament last week as well, and will play in the State Tournament in Cartersville in July.

The Toccoa Little League All-Stars Softball team will return to action Monday night when they face the host team Hart County. WNEG will broadcast the game with airtime at 5:45 P.M.
