Toccoa Juniors Take District 7 Title-Seniors Move to Finals

At the stroke of midnight, the Toccoa Junior League All-Stars captured the district 7 Little League Championship with a resounding 13-2 win over the Oglethorpe County All-Stars at Doyle Street Park.

With the help of 12 walks and clutch hitting, Toccoa scored 8 runs in the second inning, two in the third and three more in the sixth inning to win the series two games to one in the three-game series.

Keegan Crunkleton had four RBIs Monday night while Landry Williams, Colson Ivey, Caden Hamilton Dylan Elrod and Brantley Addison all knocked in runs.

On the mound Brian Waldrip kept Oglethorpe County off the board until the fourth inning.

Oglethorpe County tallied one more time in the sixth inning. Waldrip went six innings gave up just five hits and struck out 7.

Toccoa’s Junior League All-stars now travel to Columbus for the state tournament which begins on Saturday.

In the first game of the double-header Monday evening, the Toccoa Senior League All-Stars stayed alive in the Senior League State Tournament by swamping the Bartow County All-Stars 12-1.

Fin Ward drove in three runs and Tyler Zigon had two RBI’s.

Haden Scott, Jack Wilhoit and Lane Pressley scattered seven
hits against Bartow County.

Toccoa now faces Oconee County this evening at 6PM.Tocca dropped a hard fought 3-2 decision Sunday to Oconee County and now must defeat them twice to advance in the tournament.

Game time this evening is 6 P.M. and broadcast time here on WNEG will be 5:45 P.M.
