Toccoa Junior League All-Stars defeat Peachtree City All-Stars, 8-6, at State Junior League Baseball Tournament

The Toccoa Junior League All-Stars defeated the Peachtree City All-Stars Sunday afternoon 8 to 6 in the State Junior League Baseball Tournament in Columbus, Georgia.

The game featured clutch hitting, sparkling defense and great pitching.  After spotting Peachtree City a 6 to 5 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning with two out, the Toccoa All-stars started their comeback.  Tre Pressley hit an infield single.  Ryan King walked.  Brian Waldrup hit the first pitch thrown to him for a single which tied the game.  A wild pitch from Peachtree City scored both King and Waldrup, giving Toccoa the 8 to 6 lead.

In the top of the seventh with Landry Williams on the mound, an error and a single put runners on first and second with no-one out.  Peachtree City’s left-handed hitter Kason Carmelewski hit a line drive, which Williams speared for one out. He then threw it back to second base to double up the runner.  Williams then hit the next two batters to load the bases, but he got Callie Masson to ground out to third base for the force-out and the win.

Colson Ivey, Duke Collins, Seth Stonecypher and Waldrup each had RBIs for the game.

The Toccoa All-Stars will play the Athens All-Stars this afternoon at 5PM.  Should Toccoa win, they would play again on Wednesday for the championship.  Stay tuned to WNEG Radio for further updates on the tournament.
