Toccoa Junior and Senior LL Baseball All-Star Results

The Oglethorpe County Junior League All Stars defeated the Toccoa Junior League All-Stars 7-0 Sunday afternoon at Doyle Street Park.

and J.W.Derry led Oglethorpe with two hits each. Colson Ivey and Ryan King had hits for

Toccoa.

The loss prevented the Toccoa All-Stars from capturing the District Seven Championship.

Toccoa had defeated Oglethorpe County 17-7 Friday night in six innings despite being outhit 8 to

4.Brian Waldrip and Dylan Elrod each has two RBI’s in the Friday night contest. Landry Williams scored three times.

Toccoa scored two runs in the first inning, three runs in the second, four in the fifth and

wrapped up the scoring with 8 runs in the sixth inning.

The two teams will play for the third time in the tournament Championship tonight at 8PM with the winner advancing to the State Tournament in Columbus.

The Toccoa Little League Senior All-Stars took a tough loss on Sunday falling to Oconee County 3-2 in the Little League Senior Division State Tournament at Doyle Street Park in Toccoa.

Toccoa left 11 on base in the game but overcame a 2-0 deficit with a run in the 6th inning and a run in the 7th inning.

Trailing 2-0 in the top of the 6th when Tyler Zigan led off with a double and scored on Ismael Matias fielder’s choice RBI. In the 7th inning, Toccoa loaded the bases and Andrew Keown’s sacrifice fly scored Findlay Ward to tie the game. Oconee County was able to get out of the inning on a bases loaded infield fly rule and double play as Konnor Loudermilk was thrown out at home.

Oconee County scored 2 runs in the 4th inning on 3 hits and a Toccoa error, and the winning run in the bottom of the 7th on 3 hits including Walker Duval’s walkoff infield single.

Luther Moore picked up the win in relief for Oconee County. Keown took the loss for Toccoa.

Both starting pitchers Chase Pollock for Toccoa and Haden McCormick for Oconee County pitched well with no-decision.

In the open round of the tournament, Toccoa trailed 5-0 after three innings but roared back to defeat East Marietta 17-6.

Loudermilk led the offensive charge for Toccoa with 2 home run’s and 4 RBI’s. Toccoa also got 2 RBI’s each from Haden Scott, Ethan Smith and Tyler Gibson, and Jax Higgins and Matias added RBI’s.

Toccoa had 16 hits in the game.

Toccoa will now face Bartow County in an elimination game tonight with airtime scheduled for 5:45 P.M. and first pitch at 6 P.M. on WNEG. The game will be the first of two tonight with the Junior League District Championship-Toccoa vs. Oglethorpe County following.
