Toccoa Elementary ready for an exciting and challenging new school year

Toccoa Elementary School, which serves 3rd and 4th grade student in Stephens County, is excited for the new year, and WNEG News sat down for a few minutes this week with principal Sheila Pressley to find out what she is looking forward to this year.

She said they are excited to get the new school year underway, and to make a difference in the students lives; she added that a large number of the school’s teachers took part in optional professional learning sessions over the summer.

Pressley talked about how important it is for school staff and teachers to understand that children need structured routines.

When asked what she would like to communicate to each and every parent or guardian, she said establishing those routines are helpful, and stressed the importance of reading at home.

Pressley said there were a few things, especially to do with car rider lines, that parents can do to help things flow smoothly at the school.

Pressley mentioned an upcoming event that will take place in September, and invited families to attend, and said Toccoa Elementary is looking forward to a great partnership this year with students and families.

Toccoa Elementary School is located at 304. N. Pond Street. Angela Whitfield is the vice principal.
