Toccoa Elementary Named 2024 Best Elementary Schools by US News & World Report

The U.S. News & World Report recently recognized Toccoa Elementary School in its published 2024 U.S. News Best Elementary Schools rankings. To earn this title, Toccoa Elementary School placed among the top 40 percent of elementary schools in Georgia.

“We are excited to receive this distinctive honor,” says Sheila Pressley, Principal of Toccoa Elementary School. “It reflects our commitment to student success and the dedication of our teachers, staff, and students.”

Toccoa Elementary School’s high ranking earned the school eligibility to display a 2024 U.S. News Best Elementary Schools award badge. The U.S. News & World Report evaluated each of the 1,196 elementary schools in Georgia. Half of the final rankings were based on student proficiency in math and reading, as measured by state assessment data. The socioeconomic demographics of each school made up the other half of the ranking. Toccoa Elementary School ranked 317 out of 1,196 schools.

“Our theme for the 23-24 school year is “Growing Greatness,” adds Superintendent Dr. Connie Franklin. “This recognition of educational excellence is a notable example of how we strive to excel in everything we do within the Stephens County School System. It also highlights our commitment to preparing all our students for future success.”
