Toccoa City Police Dept. Arrests Three Individuals on Drug Charges

City of Toccoa Police Chief Tim Jarrell reports the arrest of three individuals under drug charges on May 9.

According to Jarrell, the suspects were traveling on Broad Street in a black Nissan Maxima and were stopped for no tail lights.

Jarrell said that while the officers were speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, they detected an odor of marijuana that led to a search of the vehicle.

“A search of the vehicle and the occupants resulted in the recovery of a substantial amount of suspected methamphetamine, suspected methadone, suspected marijuana and items consistent with the use of illegal drugs,” said Jarrell.

According to Jarrell, the individuals were charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of schedule I or II controlled substance, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and possession of drug related objects.

The three individuals arrested include Rebekah Ann Fain, 35 of Toccoa, Edward T. Cannady, 35 of Toccoa and Jessica Joy Sparks, 35 of Dunnellon, Florida.

Jarrell said that in addition to the drug related charges, the officers also seized $11,045.

“They had a total of $11,045 on them altogether,” said Jarrell. “Mr. Kennedy had $10,070 on him and the rest came from the other two individuals in the vehicle.”

Jarrell said that he’s proud of the officers who worked this case.

“I’m extremely proud of Sergeant Cross and his shift of officers that work with him with this case,” said Jarrell. “But overall, I’m proud of all the men and women in the police department and how they’re doing their job.”

According to Jarrell, the three individuals are still in the Stephens County Jail.
