Toccoa Christmas parade tonight

Due to heavy rains this past Saturday, The Toccoa Night of Lights Christmas Parade was rescheduled to tonight, Dec. 14.

According to the National Weather Service, the forecast for tonight calls for clear weather with 0% chance of rain and temperatures in the mid-40s at 5 p.m. dropping to 42 degrees at 8 p.m.

Floats will begin lining up at 5:30 p.m. and the parade will begin at 7 p.m.

Expected to be one of the largest of Toccoa’s annual Christmas Parades in recent history, the Night of Lights Parade will follow the traditional route for the Toccoa Christmas Parade, which starts on Doyle Street near Troup’s Photo Studio, Stephens County Chamber of Commerce President Julie Paysen said. Explaining that the parade route takes a left off Doyle Street onto Sage Street then will turn right onto Foreacre before turning right again at Alexander before finishing up at Savannah Street.

There will be coverage of the parade on the Visit Toccoa social media platforms, and WNEG News will be announcing the floats, and will be livestreaming the entire parade on the WNEG Radio Facebook page.

Paysen said that, unlike years previously, there will be no voting or judging for parade entries.

She urged people to come downtown before the parade and support local businesses and restaurants.
