Toccoa approves updated Speed Zone Ordinance

During last night’s regular scheduled Toccoa City Commission meeting, the commission discussed an update of the City of Toccoa’s Speed Zone Ordinance.

According to City Manager Billy Morse, this updated ordinance is basically  the same as the speed zone ordinance approved three years ago.

“The Georgia DOT has completed an update of the City of Toccoa’s Speed Zone Ordinance,” Morse said. “The updated ordinance, as presented to you, is for your review and approval. I did not see any changes to city streets, and only one minor change to the State Highway. It’s basically the same ordinance that you approved three years ago.”

In a letter submitted to the commission by the Georgia Department of Transportation, “it is the City’s responsibility to sign all off-system roadways.”

A motion to accept the Speed Zone Ordinance was made by Commissioner Jeanette Jamieson and seconded by Commissioner Evan Hellenga.

The motion passed unanimously.
