Toccoa All-Stars will face Franklin County tonight in an elimination bracket game

The Toccoa Little League 11 & 12 Baseball All-Stars won one and lost one over the weekend in the District 7 Tournament at Lavonia.  In Saturday’s game, Madison County scored in the bottom of the 2nd inning and held the lead until Toccoa tied the game in the top of the 5th on a RBI single by Will Tomlinson.  Toccoa took the lead in the top of the 6th inning when Zander Walsh doubled to lead off and was driven in by William Roush on a sacrifice grounder.  But Madison came back with 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to claim a close 3 to 2 victory.  Roush pitched the complete game striking out 10 and walking just 2 and held Madison to just 5 hits.

In Sunday’s game, Toccoa faced Habersham in an elimination bracket game.  It was all Toccoa as they scored 4 runs on 7 hits in the first inning.  Toccoa added 1 run in the 3rd inning and 5 more in the 4th to get a 10 to 0 win.  The game was delayed around 45 minutes due to rain in the bottom of the 4th inning.  Caiden Sweat pitched 3 strong innings to get the win, and Landon Carter finished the game pitching the 4th inning.  Carter also went 2 for 3 at the plate with 2 RBI’s.

With the win, Toccoa moves on to another elimination bracket game tonight, July 2, at 8:30 in Lavonia, when they face the host team, Franklin County, who lost to Hart County Sunday afternoon, 13 to 3 in five innings.  Also tonight, Madison County will take on Hart County at 6 p.m.  93.1 FM AND AM-630 WNEG will broadcast the Toccoa-Franklin County game with airtime at8:15 tonight.
