TMS selected as semifinalists for GAMSA

Toccoa Main Street has been selected as one of eight semifinalists for the Great American Main Street Award.

The Great American Main Street Award is the highest award in the nation for Main Street communities.

Sponsored by Main Street America, this award annually spotlights Main Street communities in the nation that focus on innovation and job creation within the context of historic preservation.

Criteria for winning include strength of the Main Street program in spurring community transformation, commitment to historic preservation, innovative programming, implementation of cross-sector partnerships, community outreach and stakeholder engagement, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Main Street Manager Christian Hamilton says they are honored to have been selected as a semifinalist.

Main Street America President and CEO Patrice Frey says, “the Great American Main Street Award is the highest honor within the field of commercial district management. These eight semifinalists are shining examples of the kind of transformation that is possible when using the Main Street Approach. These programs have brought renewed vibrancy to their communities and sparked impressive preservation-based revitalization.”

Main Street Toccoa Community Development Director Connie Tabor says there is something for everyone in the downtown district, and they hope that the selection as a GAMSA semifinalist will encourage additional new businesses to be part of the Main Street Toccoa family.
