Time Running Out to Comment on Changes to Georgia Hunting Regulations

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Resources Division is asking for public comment on a number of proposed changes to the current hunting regulations.

Hunters and other interested persons are encouraged to review proposed hunting regulation changes and then provide a written comment to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
The changes include not only this current hunting season, but also the 2020-2021 hunting seasons.

Some proposed changes include removing the requirement for a separate hunting license to hunt in Wildlife Management Areas and include that as part of the main hunting license.

Also children age 12 and under will no longer be able to get a license to hunt alligators.

Another change is a proposal to extend archery deer hunting season in four middle Georgia counties and reduce the number of either sex hunting days in mountain counties for firearm deer hunting season.

Other changes have to do with specific hunting locations across Georgia.

The complete public notice and synopsis of all proposed rule changes are available on the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division webpage at
http://georgiawildlife.com/regulations/proposed.

Input must be received by close of business (4:30 p.m.) on Friday, April 26, 2019.

Written statements should be mailed to: GA DNR/Wildlife Resources Division/Game Management Section; Attn: Tina Johannsen; 2067 U.S. Highway 278, S.E.; Social Circle, Georgia 30025.
