Thurmond signs with Mercer Bears

Stephens County senior baseball player, Craig Thurmond, held a signing ceremony Wednesday at the high school to announce that he will be attending and playing baseball for the Mercer Bears beginning in the fall.  Thurmond is the son of Craig and Munique Thurmond and is a four-year starter at shortstop for the Indians, but was injured much of last year.  He was recently named to the Pre-Season All-State Team by the Georgia Dugout Club.

Thurmond says a former Stephens County player who played at Mercer, Austin Lord, helped him get connected with the staff at Mercer.

Thurmond says plans to study kinesiology.  He also says he is completely healed from last year’s injury and is looking forward to starting his senior season of baseball with the Indians.  Stephens County’s first game is February 14th at West Hall.
