Three people have been arrested in the Gumlog area of Franklin County and charged with trafficking methamphetamine.

According to Franklin County Steve Thomas, investigators believe the methamphetamine was intended for local distribution.

“Deputies with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office performed a traffic stop on a vehicle on Gumlog Grove Road for a minor traffic violation. During the traffic stop Deputies recovered 567 grams, or over half a kilo, of methamphetamine,” Thomas said.  Gumlog Grove Road branches off of Gumlog Road just after passing over the bridge traveling south toward Interstate 85.

He said three subjects were arrested as a result of the traffic stop and subsequent investigation.

They are identified as 37-year-old Donnie Pace of Harlan, Kentucky, 32-year-old Matthew Johnson of Evarts, Ky, and 52-year-old Denna Saxon of Bowman, GA.

All three are charged with trafficking in methamphetamine. Johnson and Saxon are also charged with Probation Warrants.

The Sheriff said the street value of the methamphetamine that was seized during the traffic stop is approximately $7,500.00.

All bonds were denied and the three are still in the Franklin County Detention Center.
