Therapeutic pool repairs on budget, time

Stephens County’s Senior citizens will soon be able to use the recreation center’s therapeutic pool.

On Tuesday, Stephens County Administrator Phyllis Ayers told WNEG News that repairs are underway.

It’s been gutted, internally, we’ve gutted it and the duct work is in. The new ceiling is in, the walls have been painted, all the ductwork have been redone,” Ayers said. “The stalls in the bathroom, there’s a lot of fixtures in the bathroom that have been redone. Anything that was a corrosive material has been replaced with noncorrosive materials. Last week, there were a host of contractors that had contract work to be done. I would say that we’re maybe a few weeks out, I can’t give the exact date, but once the contractors are done, then we will be in a position where we’re just waiting on the PoolPak and that will be the longest lead time.

Ayers added that after construction is complete, the county will look at potential changes to the therapeutic pool’s programs.

Building and grounds maintenance Director and Assistant Administrator Randall Cleveland has been overseeing the construction.

He says that they are waiting to receive the PoolPak.

Once the PoolPak is installed, the rest of the repairs will wrap up shortly after.
