The Springs Church will hold monthly food giveaways, beginning on July 24

The pastor of a new Toccoa church and former owner of the Cafe LaVie at Emmanuel College will be bringing his mobile food truck to the church parking lot later this month to help with what he says there is a tremendous need in the community.

Rev. James Maisonneuve started The Springs Church on Rothell Road several months ago and said since that time, he’s been made aware of the high poverty level in Toccoa and decided his congregation needed to do something.

Originally from Haiti, Maisonneuve is a graduate of Emmanuel College and several years ago opened a coffee shop on campus, Cafe LaVie and started his mobile food truck giveaway ministry.

Maisonneuve is partnering with the Northeast Georgia Food Bank and hopes to have the food giveaways every month.

The first one will be held Saturday, July 24th beginning at 9a in the church parking lot on Rothell Road in Toccoa.

But Maisonneuve said it doesn’t stop there.

He says his church is committed to getting out into the community to help those in need.

His church has also decided to Adopt a Block in Toccoa to help those most in need.

Maisonneuve said they also need volunteers so anyone interested in helping should contact him at  678-608-6918.
