TFC named in U.S. News & World Report Guide for Best Colleges for 2019

Toccoa Falls College has been included in the U.S. News & World Report Guide for Best Colleges for 2019.

According to TFC Director of Marketing and Communications Tracy Wiegman, the college was ranked in three major categories: the 22nd Best Regional College in the South; the 11th Best Value College in the South, and the 9th Best College for Veterans in the South.

The 2019 edition of the U.S. News Best Colleges guidebook offers comprehensive advice for high school students and their families on researching their college choices.

Wiegman told WNEG News on Friday, that the rankings evaluate colleges and universities on 16 measures of academic quality.

She says this allows students to compare, at a glance, the relative quality of U.S. institutions based on such widely accepted indicators of excellence such as first-year student retention, graduation rates and the strength of the faculty.

The Best Colleges ranking category system uses the Carnegie classification, which is the accepted standard in U.S. higher education.

The U.S. Department of Education and many higher education associations use the Carnegie system to organize and label their data; and in some cases, the Carnegie classifications are used to determine colleges’ eligibility for grant money.

TFC President Dr. Bob Myers stated, he is thrilled to have TFC recognized, once again, at a national level for the quality education the faculty provide at TFC.

He continued by saying quote, “It’s always exciting to have others recognize what we experience on a daily basis at TFC.”

Myers added that it’s because of the wonderful faculty, staff, and students who make TFC a great place to learn.

Toccoa Falls College was founded in 1907, and is a Christ-centered, independent, nonprofit, college located in Northeast Georgia.
