TFC Baseball Sweeps Trinity Baptist

The Screaming Eagles of Toccoa Falls College swept a doubleheader from Trinity Baptist College on Saturday afternoon at home.

Toccoa Falls blew a seven-run lead in the bottom of the seventh inning in Game One, but managed to hang on for a 9-8 win.

Trinity Baptist led 2-0 going into the bottom of the fourth inning.

Then, the Screaming Eagles picked up three runs, two on home runs by Ben Fortner and Zach Zelwiger.

TFC scored three more runs in the fifth and sixth innings for a 9-2 lead.

Trinity Baptist scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh, but reliever Austin Shea got the only batter he faced to close out the game and save it for former Stephens County Indian pitcher Josh Slate, who got the win for TFC on the mound.

Ryan McKoewen took the loss for Trinity Baptist.

In the second game, the Screaming Eagles scored in every inning but the fourth, defeating Trinity Baptist 10-5.

Fortson and Zelwiger both homered again for Toccoa Falls, as both players had six RBIs for the doubleheader.

Jacob Cram pitched the first five innings and got the win for Toccoa Falls while John Shiver took the loss for Trinity.

The doubleheader sweep gave Toccoa Falls a three-game sweep over Trinity Baptist, as the Screaming Eagles also won on Friday, 8-3.

TFC is now 14-14 on the year, while Trinity Baptist falls to 14-20.
