TCC will consider in-person meetings during today’s meeting

The Toccoa City Commission will meet today for its regular scheduled meeting.

The meeting will be conducted by teleconference and is open to the public; anyone wishing to attend today’s meeting can dial-in at 706-898-5160. After dialing in you’ll be prompted to input the code 790453.

Up for discussion is the consideration of an ordinance concerning the 2021 General Election for the City of Toccoa; the Approval of Alcohol Beverage Licenses, a resolution concerning the Georgia Council for the Arts Grant for the Night at the Ritz Series, and a discussion regarding in-person commission meetings.

As WNEG News reported during the final Toccoa City Commission meeting in December 2020, the board agreed to reconsider meeting in-person during the last meeting of January.

During the meeting in December, Commissioner Jeanette Jamieson recommended the commission continue to meet by teleconference until the second meeting in January.

Commissioner Gail Fry agreed with Jamieson, saying they would know more at the last meeting in January.

Commissioner David Austin also agreed with Jamieson.

Former Vice Mayor Evan Hellenga agreed with his fellow commissioners saying their decision would be the safest way to move forward.

The Toccoa City Commission will decide today if they want to resume meeting in-person moving forward.

Again, the Toccoa City Commission will meet today at 5 p.m. for its regular scheduled meeting.

The meeting will be conducted by teleconference and is open to the public; anyone wishing to attend today’s meeting can dial-in at 706-898-5160. After dialing in you’ll be prompted to input the code 790453.
