TCC, SCBC approve purchase of courtesy vehicle for Airport

The Toccoa City Commission approved the purchase of a courtesy vehicle for the Airport Authority during its meeting on Monday.

According to City Manager Billy Morse, the Airport Authority is in need of an updated Courtesy vehicle.

He says the Airport Authority is recommending the purchase of a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox, from Thomas Auto Sales.

The cost of the vehicle has been offered to the Airport Authority for a total of $18,617; however, it will be split by three ways for the City, County, and Airport. Each agency will be responsible for $6,205.67.

Commissioner Gail Fry made a motion approving the request with Commissioner Terry Carter seconding the motion. The motion was approved unanimously.

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners also approved its portion of the vehicle purchase during its meeting on Tuesday.

Stephens County Administrator Phyllis Ayers explained that the vehicle the Airport currently uses for a courtesy vehicle is so old that it negatively reflects Toccoa-Stephens County.

Vice Chair Dennis Bell made a motion approving the purchase with Commissioner Michelle Ivester seconding the motion.

The motion was approved 3-0 with Commissioner Dean Scarborough and Commissioner Debbie Whitlock being absent.
