TCC meeting will be held by teleconference

The Toccoa City Commission will meet later today by teleconference for its regular scheduled meeting.

For anyone wishing to attend the meeting by teleconference is invited to call in at 706-898-5160, you will be asked to enter a code to join the meeting, that code is 790453.

Up for consideration, is a short-term lease agreement with Southern Company for the facility located at 210 Collins Road.

According to City Manager Billy Morse, the lease agreement will serve as a solution to isolate and separate on-duty firefighters during the COVID-19 emergency period.

The facility, formerly Georgia Power, will be used as a Fire Sub-Station.

Morse says this will allow the shifts normally housed in one location to be separated in case one crew comes into contact with the coronavirus.

The former Georgia Power location is ideal for temporarily housing Firefighters and their apparatus, Morse says it is secure with a kitchenette, shower and covered truck parking.

Additionally, the Toccoa City Commission will receive the monthly finance report ending March 31, 2020.

Toccoa Mayor Terry Carter encourages the public to attend the meeting by teleconference.

“Future City Commission meetings will be conducted by teleconference. The City Commission meets the second and fourth Mondays. Our next meeting is going to be April 13. The public is welcome to listen in on those meetings by calling 706-898-5160 and they’ll be asked to enter a code, the code is: 790453 we will continue to publicize that number and code all of next week,” he said.

Again, the number to call to attend today’s Toccoa City Commission meeting by teleconference is 706-898-5160, and the code to join the meeting is 790453.
