TCC make appointments for Northeast Georgia Housing Authority, Board of Ethics Panel

The Toccoa City Commission met on Monday for its regular scheduled meeting; during which, the Commission made appointments for the Northeast Georgia Housing Authority and the Board of Ethics Panel.

City Manager Billy Morse explained that Northeast Georgia Housing Authority member Rose Means term will expire on December 31, 2021. Commissioner David Austin made a motion to reappoint Means to the Northeast Georgia Housing Authority Board.

“The term of Housing Authority Commissioner Rose Means expires on December 31. She is interested in serving another term if you so desire,” Morse said.

“Mayor, I move to reappoint Rose Means,” Austin said. “Excellent choice.”

Commissioner Terry Carter thanked Means for her willingness to serve.

“Mayor, the only thing that I’d like to add is our appreciation to Mrs. Means for serving on the Housing Authority and representing us well. I’m sure she’ll continue to serve us well,” he said.

Austin’s motion was seconded by Vice-Mayor Jeanette Jamieson. The motion was approved unanimously.

Then Morse explained that it was time for the Commissioners to make their individual appointments for the Board of Ethics Panel.

“Each City Commissioner needs to appoint an individual to serve on the Ethics Panel for a new two-year term beginning, January 1, 2022,” he said.

Carter appointed Lamar Davis for Post 1.

Austin appointed Myron McClain for Post 2.

Jamieson appointed Bill Ayers for Post 3.

Commissioner Gail Fry appointed Gary Bellamy for Post 4.

Hellenga appointed Rick Ayers for Post 5.

Davis, McClain, Bill Ayers, Bellamy, and Rick Ayers will serve on the Ethics Panel for a two-year term beginning January 1, 2022.

A motion was made by Carter with Jamieson seconding the motion. The motion was approved unanimously.
