TCC approves zoning variance request

The Toccoa City Commission held a public hearing for a zoning variance request at its meeting on Monday.

City Manager Billy Morse explained that the request was from Richard Howard for the property located at 760 East Tugalo Street.

Attorney John Doss, filling in for City Attorney John Dickerson, opened the public hearing.

He invited residents to come before the Commission to speak in favor of or in opposition to the requested zoning variance request.

No one came forward for either.

Community Development Director Connie Tabor provided the Commission with a report with the Toccoa Planning Commission’s recommendation.

Tabor explained that the request was for a garage to be built on the property.

Commissioner Gail Fry says the new structure will add value to the property.

A motion was made by Vice-Mayor David Austin approving the request with Commissioner Terry Carter seconding the motion.

The motion was approved unanimously.
