TCC approves resolution for South Arts grant for Ritz programming

The Toccoa City Commission approved a resolution for a grant during its meeting on Monday at Toccoa City Hall.

The resolution addresses the notice that was issued by South Arts for Presentation Grant funding availability.

If received, the grant will go towards the cost to cover programming at the Historic Ritz Theatre.

Toccoa Mayor Jeanette Jamieson explained that the Toccoa Downtown Development Authority and the Toccoa City Commission have made it a 2022 goal to promote culture and the arts through the city-owned Ritz Theatre at the Schaefer Center.

The total proposed project cost to bring a regional act to the Ritz will be $4,000.

The city is requesting a $2,000 grant from South Arts with the city matching those funds to reach the $4,000 goal.

A motion was made by Commissioner Evan Hellenga approving the resolution with Commissioner Gail Fry seconding the motion.

The motion was approved unanimously.
