TCC approves project list for LMIG 2020

The City of Toccoa will begin work next year on resurfacing a number of roads.

In their regular meeting Monday, City Commissioners approved a recommendation from City Manager Billy Morse to submit a list of nine city streets to the Georgia Department of Transportation to be resurfaced in 2020 using Local Maintenance Improvement Grant funds.

Toccoa is slated to receive $174,902.45 from G-DOT in 2020.

With the City’s $52,470.74 match, the total funding for the resurface projects comes to $227,373.19.

In addition, the Commission approved Morse’s recommendation to combine that amount with the upcoming SPLOST VI (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) amount of $488,801 bringing the total project cost to $716,174.

Morse said the City plans to work with the County to resurface the nine streets.

The roads to be resurfaced include:

  • Skyview Lane
  • Rose Lane
  • Arlene Drive
  • North Pine Street
  • Meadowbrook Drive
  • Hayes Street
  • Laurel Hill Court
  • Elberton Street
  • Morgan Street

Morse said the work is expected to begin in the spring and continue through the summer.

The roads are expected to be completed by November 1, 2020.
