TCC approves Heart of the City Proclamation honoring the members of the Christmas Decorating Committee

The Toccoa City Commission adopted a proclamation on Monday during its regular scheduled meeting.

According to Toccoa Mayor Evan Hellenga the Heart of the City Proclamation recognizes the members of the Christmas Decorating Committee for their service to the City of Toccoa.

Hellenga said the decorations downtown were spectacular.

“I just hope that everyone had an opportunity during this past Christmas season to go downtown and see what a true Winter Wonderland we had.  Such beautiful, stunning decorations that we had. Everyone I know that went downtown made comments about it,” he said.

Hellenga says the City of Toccoa Christmas Decorating Committee provides a valuable service to the city of Toccoa in planning, facilitating, and executing the task of promoting Toccoa annually during the holiday season.

Hellenga then named the committee members who are responsible for decorating downtown Toccoa during the Christmas season.

“The Christmas Decorating Committee is made up of a talented and professional group of hardworking Toccoa women and men, including Rebekah Bennett, Joan Dunson, Gail Fry, Cavonna Holcomb, Brad Jordan, Wally Jordan, Vicky King, Dale Mosely, Debra Shedd, Mary Smith, Gerald Turner, Pat Turner, June Vaughn, Ann Westmoreland, Brenda Yearwood, and led through the capable hands of Mrs. Susan Tuner,” he said.

Vice Mayor Jeanette Jamieson made a motion approving the proclamation with Commissioner David Austin seconding the motion.
