TCC accepts rollback millage rate for 2022

As the Stephens County Board of Commissioners consider a proposed property tax increase, Toccoa Mayor Jeanette Jamieson says the Toccoa City Commission has accepted a rollback millage rate.

The rollback millage rate will keep the tax liability for property owners inside city limits the same as last year.

The city’s millage rate for 2021 was 5.98 mills and this year, the Toccoa City Commission has set the millage rate at 5.6 mills.

Jamieson says that city residents will not have an increase for their Toccoa property taxes.

“When we were developing the budget and so forth, we knew that we had that to look at. Of course when doing the rollback, what it actually did was it ensures the tax payers in Toccoa didn’t have an increase in property tax,” she said.

Again, the Toccoa City Commission has accepted the rollback of 5.6 mills for this year’s millage rate.
