Sunday fire damages motel at the Dillard House

A fire, on Sunday, damaged four rooms in a motel building at The Dillard House in Dillard.

According to reports, the fire occurred around 12:50 p.m. and breached the roof before being brought under control at 1:43.

Rabun County Fire Services Stations 1, 5 and 12, as well as Otto FD from Macon County, North Carolina, responded to the fire at one of the Dillard House motel buildings.

The first units on scene advised of fire and heavy smoke coming from the end of the motel, and had appeared to have traveled into the attic space, burning above the motel rooms.

Rabun County’s Stations 6 and 9 were requested to assist after officials could not locate any hydrants in the immediate vicinity of the complex.

According to reports, the Dillard Police Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the incident.

No cause of fire has yet been determined.
