Summer Movies return to the Ritz in July

The Summer Movies series will return to the Historic Ritz Theatre.

According to Ritz Theatre General Manager Tami Mayhugh, this is the first time since early March, that the Historic Ritz Theatre will be opening its doors to the public.

She says the Summer Movie Series is slated to begin on Thursday, July 2, at 10 a.m. with additional showings at 3 p.m. and again at 7 p.m.

To kick-off Independence Day weekend, the Historic Ritz Theatre will be showing the award-winning blockbuster hit 1917.

Mayhugh says the movie line-up also includes The Angry Birds 2 Movie on July 9, Jumanji: The Next Level on July 16, The Addams Family on July 23, and Aladdin on July 30.

She adds that because of social distancing guidelines each showing will be limited to the first 100 guests; however, the theatre will be screening each film three times, at 10 a.m., 3 p.m., and again at 7 p.m.

Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the theatre, bathrooms will be cleaned during and after each showing, and all chairs, door knobs, and fixtures will be cleaned with anti-bacterial spray.

Mayhugh says bathrooms will be limited to one person at a time.

Concessions will be available and set up in front of the stage in the orchestra pit to help eliminate over-crowding in the lobby area.

Additionally, Mayhugh says in August, they will be bringing back the Ritz’s Theatre’s Saturday Matinees.

As always, movies and concessions are $1 each.
