“Stuff The Bus” Donates Food

The “Stuff The Bus” Food Drive raises over 400 pounds of food.

The Toccoa Rotary Club held the “Stuff The Bus” 5K Run/Walk on November 18th. Included in the entry was the donation of canned goods.

On Wednesday, at Campfire Toccoa at Camp Toccoa the Toccoa Rotary Club presented the food to the Neighbors For Neighbors Program, and the Toccoa Soup Kitchen.

Leon Womack of the Toccoa Rotary Club and Chairman of the event says that there were also monetary donations made for ‘Stuff The Bus”. “ The Toccoa Rotary Club is a 501C3 so anyone that needs a tax donation for their gift can contact me or any Rotarian”; says Womack “ Rotary is an International organization, but the Rotary Club of Toccoa believes in giving back to the community. The money stays in our community to do great works.”

Elaine Brinkley of the Toccoa Rotary Club and Campfire Toccoa says some other local organizations have contributed as well. “ The youth involved in Campfire’s After School Program collected a large portion of this food along with The Boys and Girls Club, and Shepherd’s Hill Academy.”

Dave Standard with Neighbors For Neighbors says that the food will be distributed locally. “We provide food to needy people in Stephens County. The food will be distributed to the people who come to us and give us a little information. On average, we provide food to approximately 9,000 people in Stephens County.”

The “Stuff The Bus” Annual Food Drive is an annual event hosted by the Toccoa Rotary Club and the 2017 event was one of the more successful events according to the Rotarians.
