Students in Stephens County start school today

Students in Stephens County return to school today for the start of Academic Year 2020-2021.

Originally, the School System was scheduled to begin August 5; however, the Stephens County Board of Education decided to push the start date back one-week to allow faculty and staff to better prepare for the return of students.

Stephens County School Superintendent Dr. Daniel Oldham reminds parents that today will also beginning the 20-day trial period for students and parents to decide if in-person instruction or virtual learning will be the best fit for their needs.

Again, if your child would like to switch to in-class instruction or virtual learning, parents are asked to contact the student’s school principal no later than September 2.

Additionally, Stephens County Pre-K and PREP start date has been pushed back to Monday, August 17, a decision that was made after eight staff members at Big A Elementary School were sent home due to COVID-19 exposure.
