Stephens County Coroner / EMS Director Chris Stephens Announces bid for Probate Judge

Stephens County Coroner and EMS director Chris Stephens announced this week that he would be running for election as Stephens County Probate judge in the upcoming election.

When he sat down with WNEG News to discuss the decision, he thanked the citizens for allowing him to serve as coroner, but said he felt running for the Judge position was the right step.

He stressed that he loves his work in the EMS field, which he has served in for 40 years, but said that he has been working closely with current Probate Judge Glenda Ernest to learn more about the office, and to assist her, and said he very much enjoys the public service aspect of the office.

He said no one could fill Ernest’s shoes, but said he would like to be the one to keep her traditions alive in the Probate office.

He added that he felt like this is the time in his life for a change, but said he is committed to Stephens County, and if he is not elected, he will continue to serve the county.
