Stone Mountain Woman Killed in Weekend Wreck

A Stone Mountain woman died over the weekend on I-85 after she reportedly lost control of her vehicle.

According to the Georgia State Patrol Incident report, it happened Saturday evening around 5:45p on 85 Southbound near mile marker 171 near Fair Play, South Carolina.

The report states the driver of a 2003 Ford Ranger, identified as 67 year old Lisa Hutto of Stone Mountain was driving in the right lane when her vehicle crossed over into the left lane and then into the median hitting the guard rail.

Witnesses stated her vehicle then spun back across the Interstate to the right shoulder, flipped and landed on top of the guardrail.

Hutto was wearing a seatbelt but was ejected and died at the scene.

The crash caused a backup on I85 southbound in both lanes, which also caused a two-car wreck near the 173 SB exit ramp.

Traffic was at a standstill when according to the incident report, a Chrysler 200 Limited was traveling southbound but the driver was unable to stop in time.

The vehicle struck the rear of a Kia Sorento then traveled off the road into a ditch.

No one was injured in that two-vehicle wreck.
