Stolen vehicle from Indiana recovered in Toccoa

A Toccoa man has been arrested after Police found his wallet and ID in the front seat of a stolen vehicle.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, on November 27, officers with the Toccoa Police Department located a vehicle that had been stolen from Indiana.

While on patrol an officer obtained a “ping” on a stolen vehicle from the Low Jack system in the vehicle.

The stolen car, a 2006 BMW 301, was located, at 213 Norwood Avenue in Toccoa, displaying a false tag.

During the investigation, Mize says the car was confirmed to be stolen from a car dealership.

While verifying the VIN-number and other information, a baggie containing over an ounce of marijuana was viewed in the front seat of the vehicle. Mize adds that after a further search, a set of scales and the wallet and identification of the driver was located in the center console.

Christopher Williams, 32, of Toccoa was charged with theft by bringing stolen property into the state, theft by receiving stolen property, delivering and distributing marijuana and possession and use of drug related objects.

He was transported to the Stephens County Jail without incident.

The vehicle was towed to the on-call wrecker’s lot and a hold placed for Indiana.
