Stephens County’s Toys for Tots campaign is underway

It’s hard to believe but it is once again time to start thinking about Christmas and Christmas giving.

And this year’s Toys for Tots campaign is already underway in Stephens County.

Local Toys for Tots Coordinator Don Alexander says same as last year, parents can request toys for their children through the Toys for Tots’ online system.

Parents or guardians needing toys can go online to www.toysfortots.org and click on Request for Toys.

Alexander says users simply need to follow the instructions online.

The Toys for Tots campaign officially got underway October 1, and Alexander says they have already received a number of requests.

One thing that has changed is distribution days, instead of being held on Fridays, this year they will be held every other Wednesday, beginning on Wednesday, October 16.

The Toys for Tots warehouse is located on Whitman Street in Toccoa, behind Mt. Zion Church.

If you are interested in donating toys or making a donation to the Toys for Tots campaign, Alexander says they will be at the Toccoa Wal-Mart in November and December.

Monetary donations are also accepted, according to Alexander.

He says that money is used to purchase Christmas gifts for older children up to age 15.

Again, low-income families can go online to www.toysfortots.org to request toys for children for Christmas.
