Stephens County’s Polar Express and Toy Drive returns tonight, tomorrow

Stephens County’s Polar Express and Toy Drive returns tonight for the first of two routes this week.

Stephens County Commission Chair Michelle Ivester says it’s great to do this again this year.

Ivester says the route begins at the Stephens County Road Department, from there it’ll turn Right onto Prather Bridge, turn right onto East Tugalo Street, turn left onto N. Broad Street, turn right onto W. Currahee Street, and stop at Zebulon Baptist Church.

The Polar Express will stop again at Smoking Pig BBQ, from there it’ll go across to Easy Street, turn right onto Carnes Creek Road, turn left onto W. Currahee Street, turn left onto Cawthon Road, cross bypass to Cawthon Road, turn left onto Nub Garland, turn right onto N. Hicks Road, turn right onto Hwy 184, turn right onto West Leatherwood Road, turn left onto Hwy 184, turn left onto New Hope Road, and stop at New Hope Baptist Church.

From New Hope Baptist Church, it’ll turn right onto Hwy 106, turn left onto Nub Garland Road, turn right onto Dooley Drive, turn right onto Nub Garland, turn right onto East Leatherwood Road, turn right onto Law House Road, turn right onto Hwy 106, turn left onto Racetrack Road, turn left onto W. Silver Shoals Road, turn left onto N. Broad River Road, turn right onto Pulliam Road, turn left onto E. Silver Shoals Road, turn left onto Freeman Creek, turn left on Buena Vista, turn right onto Old Mize Road, turn right onto Hwy 106/Mize Road, and Stop at Sunnyside Baptist Church.

The Polar Express will then end at the Road Department.

Ivester says you can also follow the Stephens County Emergency Management Facebook page for updates throughout the night on the location of the Polar Express so that you will know where to meet them.

Then on Thursday, December 16, the final route for this Christmas season, will start at the Road Department, then turn right onto Prather Bridge, then right into Prather Park Apartments, then turn right onto Prather Bridge Road, and Stop at Fall Park Apartments.

From the red light, the Polar Express will turn left onto Hwy 17, turn left onto E. Tugalo Street, left onto Rosedale Circle to Pinevalley Drive and back to Rosedale, then turn left onto Boulevard, left onto E. Tugalo Street, right onto Myrtle Street, left onto Hayes Street, left onto Hemphill (Cross Creek) and then back to the Road Department.

Ivester encourages everyone to participate.

She says if you are not on the route and can’t bring a toy to a route point, you are welcome to bring a toy to County Clerk Beth Rider at the Stephens County Courthouse Annex, located at 802 E. Doyle Street in Toccoa.

Again, the Stephens County Polar Express and Toy Drive will run tonight and tomorrow.
