Stephens County’s Grand Jury hands down indictments

Continuing our coverage of the recent indictments handed down by the Stephens County Grand Jury.

The Grand Jury recently met and indicted Jeffery Lanie Malcolm on charges of terroristic threats, and battery under the family violence act.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on July 2, 2022, when Malcolm allegedly threatened to commit a crime of violence, specifically, murder, with the purpose of terrorizing his wife Rebecca Lynn Malcolm.

Scott Wallace Paquette was indicted on the charge of entering an automobile.

The charge stems from an incident that occurred on September 2, 2022, when Paquette allegedly unlawfully entered a 2003 Toyota 4Runner without the consent of the vehicle’s owner.

Michael James Maxwell was indicted for possession of methamphetamine. The charge stems from an incident that occurred on July 16, 2019.

The Grand Jury also indicted Randy John Browning and Dayna Bermudez Pettus on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug related objects. The charges stem from an incident that occurred on December 28, 2021.

Brandi Nichole Ford and Justin Wayne Morgan were indicted on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and possession of drug related objects. The charges stem from an incident that occurred on March 4, 2021.

Chelsey Leighann Kirkland was indicted for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and driving under the influence. The charges stem from an incident that occurred on July 21, 2022.

Kirkland was also indicted, in a separate case, for making a false statement. According to the indictment, the charge stems from an incident that occurred on August 14, 2022, when Kirkland allegedly made a false statement to Officer Jake Palmer in an investigation into a forged automobile tile.  The indictment claims Kirkland did falsely represent that her vehicle was stolen, and the title forged when she had given permission to another to sign her name to the title.

Lastly, the Grand Jury indicted Justin Craig Martin on the charge of obstructing an officer. The charge stems from an incident that occurred on October 13, 2022, when Martin allegedly resisted and obstructed a jailer with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, by pinning the jailer against a door and grabbing the officer around the throat to choke him.
