Stephens County’s election to be audited on Thursday

In Stephens County an audit of the Stephens County Registrar’s Office’s recent election will take place on Thursday, November 12.

According to Stephens County Registrar Eureka Gober the audit will review ballots cast to determine whether the votes were counted accurately and if proper procedure were followed.

She says the audit is open to the public and will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Historic Stephens County Courthouse.

The audit will look at all ballots cast including provisional, absentee, UOCAVA, early voting, and election day.

The Registrar’s Office will create a ballot manifest that will be uploaded to the auditing software.

Then the software will generate a list of ballots that need to be confirmed to complete the audit.

The election audit is not the same as certifying the election results; which, at this time, the Registrar’s Office has yet to schedule when the certification of the November 3rd election will take place.

Again, the audit is scheduled to take place on Thursday, at 9 a.m. inside the Historic Stephens County Courthouse.
