Stephens County’s COVID-19 death toll remains at 36

The latest report from the Georgia Department of Public Health shows Stephens County with 36 total deaths related to Covid-19 and 1,039 positive cases since the beginning of the global pandemic.

The latest report was released Thursday afternoon.

DPH is also reporting Habersham County with 66 deaths, and now 1,601 total positive cases of the virus.

Locally, Stephens County Hospital and its facilities have administered 5,080 COVID-19 tests.

Of those, 1,008 tests have come back positive with 800 patients receiving positive results, 4,056 received negative results, and 16 individuals are still awaiting their results.

Stephens County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester says the hospital currently has two patients hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and two others hospitalized awaiting results.

In other neighboring counties, Rabun County is now reporting 9 deaths and 329 cases, Hart County has had 13 deaths and 497 cases, Banks County is reporting 7 deaths and 472 cases, and Franklin County has had 736 cases and now 12 deaths.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is now reporting a total of 311,046 cases, of those, 27,903 have been hospitalized and 6,822 have died from complications of the virus.
