Stephens County’s COVID-19 cases double since beginning of July

The Sunday report from the Georgia Department of Public Health has 476 total cases and six deaths due to complications of COVID-19 in Stephens County.

Since the beginning of July, the number of cases have increased by 242.

The Department of Public Health is reporting that Habersham County has 48 fatalities due to the virus and 937 positive cases of the virus.

Locally, Stephens County Hospital and its facilities have tested 3,952 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 734 tests have come back positive with 582 patients receiving positive results, 3,149 received negative results, and 69 individuals are still awaiting their results.

Stephens County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester says the hospital currently has eight patients hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19.

In other neighboring counties, Franklin County has had 322 cases and three deaths, Banks County has a total of 205 cases and three deaths, Rabun County has 154 cases and three deaths, and Hart County has 200 cases.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 167,953 cases, of those, 17,091 have been hospitalized and 3,168 have died from complications of the virus.
